Cre-away treatment is the method we use to treat creosote, a by-product of many burning fuels that can form a layer inside a chimney flue or stove. A build up of this material can potentially cause a fire, especially if it develops into third degree creosote.

Third degree creosote is a highly flammable substance that can’t be removed by sweeping alone and has to be chemically treated. This is when we use cre-away, a powder that is sprayed into the flue and left for two to three weeks to slowly break down the tar-like material. Only then can it be cleared using a brush technique.

During this two to three week period you are still able to use your fire or stove as normal.
